From the desk of the Innovation PNG Conference Program Director
Papua New Guinea can become an innovation nation.
Innovation, simply put, is the solving of problems by using new ideas, methods and tools.
PNG has a great example from its own history. Some 9000 years ago in the Waghi Valley, near what is now Mt Hagen, people first decided to drain and divert water in the Kuk Swamp so they could plant taro and create a more reliable food supply. Thus, PNG became one of the earliest places on the planet to show evidence of agriculture.
Today, PNG continues to innovate, adapting to the global digital revolution. While the technologies may differ, the core motivation remains the same—applying new thinking to solve existing challenges.
This is the essence of Innovation PNG, the country’s premier festival of technology and innovation, returning for its third edition at the Stanley Hotel in Port Moresby on 27–28 March.
Launched in 2019, Innovation PNG is more than just a conference—it’s a platform to foster a culture of innovation across business and government, sparking conversations on how PNG can develop homegrown solutions for its future.
Dynamic program
The Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Business Advantage International have curated a dynamic program designed to inspire, educate, and drive innovation across organisations of all sizes.
The conference will showcase leading PNG businesses and government agencies, sharing how they are embracing innovation. It will also feature global experts, including AI futurist Mark Pesce (right) and representatives from IBM, Xero, Visa, and Affinsys AI, offering world-class insights.
With seven international keynote speakers, interactive workshops, case studies, Q&A sessions, and a full expo showcasing cutting-edge technology, this event promises an immersive and impactful experience.
Hot topics
Some of the most critical topics shaping business and governance—AI, cybersecurity, digital services, fintech, sustainability, productivity, and funding innovation—will be at the heart of our discussions.
We’ll also celebrate PNG’s top innovators at the Gala Awards Dinner, recognising those driving progress.
With this carefully curated program, we aim to inspire both today’s leaders and the next generation of changemakers. We encourage organisations to send not just senior executives but also their brightest young talent to shape PNG’s future.
